About Optimist Club of Arlington
Since 1945, we have provided athletic, scholastic and community oriented activities for the children of Arlington, Texas. We give out over $10,000 in scholarships every year. We have many programs and work together with other community organizations to ‘Bring Out the Best in Kids’.
Mission,Vision & Purpose
Mission: By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids.
Vision: Optimist International will be recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential.
Purposes: To develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs.
Optimists provide service in their communities while living by the tenets of the Optimist Creed.
Our motto is Friend of Youth. We have been making Arlington a better place to be a kid for over 70 years. Our club is one of the largest in Optimist International with over 450 members who volunteer their time and talents to work with the youth of our city. Become a member

Each November the Optimist Club of Arlington joins other clubs around the world in celebrating the good youth in each of our communities.
The Optimist Club of Arlington partners with the Arlington Police Department in many of their youth oriented programs.
Every March all of the clubs in Optimist International sponsor Oratorical Contests in their areas.
In 1958, Hugh O’Brian (the actor most popularly known as Wyatt Earp) returned from Africa inspired by his visit with Dr. Albert Schweitzer.
